College girl gang raped in cradle of Goddess Chamundeshwari in Mysore

Goddess Chamundeshwari is the diety of Mysuru, which is also known as heritage city.

Citizens here revere women and river Kaveri is worshipped as a goddess.
In a disturbing incident, a girl student was allegedly gang raped near Thippayyanakere in Mysuru city on Tuesday night, at the foot hills of Chamundi hills

It’s said that the incident occured at around 7 pm in Chamundi hills. A Mumbai based MBA student was returning to city with a friend in bike after visiting the Chamundi hills.

According to the male friend of the victim , a gang of five to six inebriated youth waylaid the bike, assaulted the boy and took away the girl to near by bushes and allegedly gang raped her.

The city police commissioner Dr Chandra gupta , DCP Pradeep Gunti visited the spot. Alanahalli police have registered a case and are investigating.

According to sources the police have already taken four suspected persons into custody and questionning.
Reacting to the incident from New Delhi Chief Minister Basavaraja Bommai told reporters that he has instructed DGP to nab the culprits soon.

Speaking to mediapersons state former women commission chairperson Manjula Manasa told that the women commission should register a suo motu case about incident. She said though the police registered case in the morning they visited the spot at 3 pm.

  • The incident is really disturbing. Over that there were news channels reporting the girl on a bad light. Thank you for a good write up on the incident getting all details. Safety of women is still a concern at such times. I pray the miscreants are traced at the earliest and rigorously punished. May the victim be blessed with enough strength to bear the pain she is undergoing physically and emotionally. My heart cries for her.
