BENGALURU: Celebrated National Award-winning Kannada filmmaker P Sheshadri is taking regional storytelling to international shores once again. His critically acclaimed feature film, Ruby Cube, has been officially selected for screening at the upcoming Indian Film Festival in Kazan, located in Russia’s Republic of Tatarstan.

The prestigious cultural event is scheduled to run on October 15 and 16, 2026. It is organized as a core highlight of the India-Russia business forum titled TIME: Tatarstan Initiative Mutual Efficiency. The festival is designed to foster deep cultural ties between India and Russia through cinema while opening lucrative avenues for cross-border collaboration among filmmakers, producers, and distributors.

Bridging Cultures Through Cinema

Beyond the high-profile film screenings, P Sheshadri has been invited to share his extensive filmmaking expertise as a panelist. He will participate in an exclusive discussion titled ‘Filming the Future: Opportunities in India-Russia Cinema’ on October 15 at the Centre for Unique Mastery in Kazan. The panel will explore the evolving possibilities, hurdles, and technical cooperation models between the Indian and Russian film industries.

Selected contemporary Indian masterpieces will be showcased with Russian subtitles to appeal directly to local audiences. The initiative aims to spark meaningful interactions between Indian cinematic minds and Russian cinephiles, ultimately boosting international distribution channels.

About the Film: A Metaphor for Life

Ruby Cube dives deep into the intricate dynamics of family relationships, fractured human bonds, and the journey toward emotional reconciliation. The film’s narrative revolves around the famous Rubik’s Cube, which serves as a powerful metaphor for life’s challenges. Much like solving the colorful puzzle, piecing together broken relationships demands boundless patience, mutual understanding, and perseverance.

Based on a thought-provoking story by Prathama S, the film boasts a stellar ensemble cast featuring veteran actor Dattanna, Vidyamurthy, Radhya, and Dev Devaiah. Its international showcase provides a stellar platform to introduce global audiences to rich, culturally-rooted Kannada narratives.

As Ruby Cube hits the screens in Kazan, it marks another proud milestone for Sandalwood, further cementing the global footprint of Kannada cinema on the international festival circuit.
