Vijay Raghavendra Turns ‘Auto Raja’ to Highlight Health Struggles of Auto Drivers in ‘Nagu Nagutha’

Sandalwood actor Vijay Raghavendra has stepped into the shoes of an auto-rickshaw driver for a new social cause short film titled Nagu Nagutha. Designed to raise awareness about the physical strain, demanding routines, and serious health complications faced by auto drivers, the film highlights an often-overlooked community on Namma Bengaluru’s roads.

Directed by Shivu Jamakhandi, who has also composed the music for the film, Nagu Nagutha explores the daily grind behind the meter—skipped meals, severe sleep deprivation, and intense financial and domestic pressures that frequently culminate in sudden heart issues.

A Message Centered on Driver Well-Being

In Nagu Nagutha, Vijay Raghavendra leads the narrative alongside actress Varshitha Ram, who plays his onscreen wife. The story, written by producer Nasir Khateeb, was produced under the banner of Heart Line Films by Khateeb and Mohammed Salauddin.

Speaking at the project’s launch, Vijay Raghavendra emphasized the importance of self-care and medical awareness among public transport workers:

“Auto drivers have supported this project wholeheartedly. Our primary intention is that drivers must look after their health and family. These days, heart attacks have become as common as catching a cold, but the consequences are very painful. Whatever the external factors may be, taking care of our health remains in our hands.”
