Missing Name from Voter List? Submit Form 6 to Re-enroll, Says Karnataka Chief Electoral Officer

MANGALURU: Citizens who find their names omitted from the final electoral roll will not lose their constitutional right to franchise, clarified Karnataka State Chief Electoral Officer (CEO) V. Anbukumar. Eligible voters whose names are missing can re-enroll by submitting Form No. 6 to the Election Commission of India (ECI).

Speaking at a progress review meeting for the Special Intensive Revision (SIR) process at the Deputy Commissioner’s office in Dakshina Kannada, CEO Anbukumar reassured the public that administrative checks are in place to safeguard voters’ rights.

“None will lose their voting rights,” Anbukumar affirmed, urging citizens not to panic if their names do not reflect in the immediate electoral lists.

Form 6 Submission Guidelines

Election authorities have already completed the initial distribution of enumeration forms to households. Digitisation of returned forms is currently underway across electoral constituencies.

For voters who missed submitting their initial forms within the stipulated timeframe:

1. Wait for Final Publication: Check the draft and final voters’ lists issued by the Election Commission.

2. File Form No. 6: Submit an application for inclusion of name using Form 6.

3. Attach Proof: Submit mandatory supporting documents, including address proof, identity proof, and prescribed declarations.

Verifying Absentee, Shifted, Deceased, and Duplicate (ASDD) Voters

To ensure transparency, the CEO directed election officials and Booth Level Officers (BLOs) to rigorously verify cases categorized under ASDD (Absentee, Shifted, Deceased, and Duplicate) voters.

Anbukumar emphasized that verified lists of ASDD voters must be shared with designated agents of recognized political parties to maintain total transparency during the electoral update drive. Expediting the digitisation process, he noted, remains critical to publishing the draft voter list without delay.

Progress Report: Dakshina Kannada SIR Drive

Providing a breakdown of the local revision drive, Dakshina Kannada Deputy Commissioner H. V. Darshan highlighted the following milestones:

 Total Registered Voters: 18,03,766

 Enumeration Forms Distributed: 100% coverage

 Forms Digitised: 14,97,139 (83% completion rate)

 Identified ASDD Voters: 65,588 voters verified

 Voter Assistance Centers: 1,098 facility centers active across the district

Following the review, CEO Anbukumar inspected the Capitanio School polling booth in the Mangaluru South Assembly constituency to assess the ground-level execution of the SIR process, expressing satisfaction with the BLO arrangements and voter facilities.
