‘BJP Leaders Have Lost Their Sanity’: KPCC President BK Hariprasad Slams R. Ashoka Over Derogatory Remarks

BENGALURU: Launching a direct and fiery broadside against the Opposition, Karnataka Pradesh Congress Committee (KPCC) President B.K. Hariprasad on Thursday severely criticized Leader of the Opposition R. Ashoka and the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) for using unacceptable language against Rahul Gandhi and senior Congress leadership.

Addressing a press conference in Bengaluru alongside MLC Sudham Das, KPCC President B.K. Hariprasad alleged that BJP leaders have lost their mental balance and political decorum in light of their recent public statements.

‘Derogatory Language Shows Desperation’

Taking strong exception to R. Ashoka’s recent remarks referring to Rahul Gandhi and Sonia Gandhi in singular, disrespecting terms, KPCC President Hariprasad stated that the BJP leadership’s conduct has crossed all boundaries of political civility.

“The language used by Opposition Leader R. Ashoka against Rahul Gandhi, Sonia Gandhi, and former Prime Ministers shows that the BJP leaders have completely lost their sanity. Their political discourse has completely derailed,” KPCC President B.K. Hariprasad said.

He further alleged that several current BJP and RSS leaders derived their political culture from black-marketing tickets near the old HMT theatre in Jalahalli, which reflects in their current vocabulary and behavior.

Congress Hits Back on ‘Tukde-Tukde Gang’ Allegations

Refuting the BJP’s frequent “Tukde-Tukde gang” allegations against Congress, KPCC President B.K. Hariprasad questioned why Union Home Minister Amit Shah and BJP National President J.P. Nadda engaged with student groups if they truly believed those allegations.

Hariprasad also responded to claims about security near the Prime Minister’s Residence in Delhi:

 Historical Context: He pointed out that during Indira Gandhi’s tenure in 1975, when BJP leader Atal Bihari Vajpayee called for gheraoing her residence, the Congress government maintained democratic norms without resorting to violence.

 Party Offices Culture: Rebuffing accusations of violence, the KPCC chief challenged the BJP to inspect Congress premises. “If you come to a Congress office, you will only find the Tricolor national flag and the Gandhi cap. You will never find swords, bombs, or weapons like those routinely seized from RSS and BJP offices across Kerala and other states,” he claimed.

Allegations of Intimidation and NEET Irregularities

KPCC President B.K. Hariprasad raised serious security concerns regarding recent protests near the Congress headquarters in Bengaluru. He alleged that weapons and petrol-filled water bottles were carried in cars belonging to opposition leaders during demonstrations.

Turning his focus to national policy, the KPCC President attacked the Centre over recurring paper leaks and the implementation of the NEET examination system:

1. Paper Leak Crisis: He claimed that over 152 paper leak instances have ruined the country’s education framework under the current central administration.

2. CET vs. NEET: Hariprasad highlighted that the Common Entrance Test (CET) introduced by former Chief Minister Veerappa Moily ensured merit-based education for poor students without paper leak scandals, unlike the current national system.
