Bengaluru: The Karnataka government has initiated both disciplinary and criminal proceedings against Karnataka Administrative Service (KAS) officer Apoorva Bidari, currently serving as the Assistant Commissioner of Bengaluru South subdivision. The action follows allegations of issuing erroneous orders in several land dispute cases.
In an official directive issued on Monday, the Regional Commissioner of the Bengaluru Division instructed the Deputy Commissioner of Bengaluru Urban to file a First Information Report (FIR) against Bidari. The charges include violations under Section 257 of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita (BNS) — which pertains to public servants corruptly or maliciously delivering false reports or verdicts in judicial proceedings — as well as Section 35 of the Karnataka Land Revenue Act, 1964.
The directive is based on findings that Bidari allegedly passed flawed judgments in 53 quasi-judicial land dispute cases. Authorities are currently investigating the intent behind these decisions.
