BK Hariprasad Alleges BJP Leaders Came to Plant Illegal Arms at KPCC Office

BENGALURU: Escalating the high-voltage political clash between the ruling Congress and opposition BJP in Karnataka, senior Congress leader B. K. Hariprasad made a sensational claim on Wednesday. Hariprasad alleged that BJP leaders, including Harihar MLA B. P. Harish, came near the Karnataka Pradesh Congress Committee (KPCC) office premises with a plot to hide illegal weapons and falsely implicate Congress leadership.
The dramatic statement comes in the backdrop of tense confrontations on Queens Road, where Congress functionaries allegedly targeted BJP MLA B. P. Harish with eggs during a counter-protest.
‘Attempt to Frame Congress Leadership’
Dismissing the BJP’s outcry over the egg-pelt incident, Hariprasad hit back forcefully, alleging sinister motives behind the sudden appearance of BJP leaders near the ruling party’s headquarters.
“The BJP leaders had come here to keep illegal weapons in the KPCC office premises to falsely implicate our party and its leadership in the state,” Hariprasad stated while addressing reporters. “I can right away spell out which leaders from their bio are behind this plot, but let the inquiry happen first.”
Hariprasad asserted that party workers reacted instinctively to protect their premises, characterizing the KPCC headquarters as a “temple” for Congress workers that BJP leaders were attempting to desecrate.
High Drama on Queens Road
The confrontation unfolded when BJP leaders organized a march towards the KPCC office protesting against Congress demonstrations in New Delhi.
While most BJP workers were detained by police near Cantonment Station, Harihar MLA B. P. Harish got separated from the primary contingent. His vehicle approached Queens Road directly, leaving him isolated near the KPCC office, where waiting Congress workers pelted him with eggs and allegedly attempted to assault him before police stepped in.
Following the incident, the Karnataka BJP filed an official police complaint demanding the immediate arrest of those involved in the egg attack. Opposition leaders condemned the violence, alleging that law enforcement permitted the attack to occur and accusing the state government of harboring hostile elements.
Call for Detailed Inquiry
Responding to the allegations, Hariprasad maintained that Congress workers acted defensively. He reiterated that a thorough investigation would reveal the actual intentions of the BJP leaders who arrived at the KPCC premises.
As both parties lodge complaints and exchange serious accusations, political tension remains high across Bengaluru. Police security has been intensified near both the KPCC and BJP state offices to prevent further altercations.
