Kannada Actor and Producer Dileep Raj Passes Away at 47 Due to Heart Attack

Bengaluru: The Kannada entertainment industry is in a state of mourning following the sudden and tragic demise of versatile actor and producer Dileep Raj. The 47-year-old artist passed away in the early hours of Wednesday, May 13, 2026, after suffering a massive heart attack at his residence.

According to family sources, Dileep Raj complained of severe chest pain and uneasiness before collapsing. He was rushed to a private hospital in Bengaluru, but despite the doctors’ best efforts, he could not be revived.

A Versatile Journey: From Theatre to Stardom

Dileep Raj was a multi-faceted talent who left an indelible mark on the Kannada film industry, television, and theatre. He began his journey on the stage, honing his craft with renowned theatre groups like Nataranga and Drishti.

While he made his lead film debut in the 2005 movie Boy Friend, it was his role as the antagonist in the 2007 blockbuster ‘Milana’, starring alongside the late Powerstar Puneeth Rajkumar, that catapulted him to widespread fame.

Career Highlights:

• Film: Notable performances in U-Turn, Love Mocktail 3, and Orchestra Mysuru.

• Television: A household name across Karnataka for his lead role as ‘AJ’ in the hit serial ‘Hitler Kalyana’.

• Production: Under his banner, DR Creations, he produced popular shows including Paaru and Vidya Vinayaka.

• Voice Acting: A respected dubbing artist who famously lent his voice to lead actors in cult classics like Aa Dinagalu.

The news of his passing has sent shockwaves through the fraternity. Colleagues and fans have taken to social media to express their grief, remembering him as a dedicated professional who successfully transitioned from a character actor to a lead hero and eventually a successful producer.

Dileep Raj is survived by his wife, Srividya, and two daughters. His contribution to the arts—spanning over two decades across films and television—will remain a lasting legacy in the hearts of his fans.
