Bengaluru: The Kannada entertainment industry is in a state of mourning following the sudden and tragic demise of versatile actor and producer Dileep Raj. The 47-year-old artist passed away in the early hours of Wednesday, May 13, 2026, after suffering a massive heart attack at his residence.
According to family sources, Dileep Raj complained of severe chest pain and uneasiness before collapsing. He was rushed to a private hospital in Bengaluru, but despite the doctors’ best efforts, he could not be revived.
A Versatile Journey: From Theatre to Stardom
Dileep Raj was a multi-faceted talent who left an indelible mark on the Kannada film industry, television, and theatre. He began his journey on the stage, honing his craft with renowned theatre groups like Nataranga and Drishti.
While he made his lead film debut in the 2005 movie Boy Friend, it was his role as the antagonist in the 2007 blockbuster ‘Milana’, starring alongside the late Powerstar Puneeth Rajkumar, that catapulted him to widespread fame.
