Kalaburagi :
In a disturbing incident of moral policing, a Hindu youth was allegedly assaulted by a group of men in Kalaburagi for offering a ride to a Muslim woman. The incident has sparked concern over rising vigilantism and communal tensions in the region.
According to reports, the victim, identified as Bailappa, works as a nurse at a private hospital in the city. He had offered a ride on his two-wheeler to a female colleague, also a nurse and belonging to the Muslim community, who works at the same hospital.
While the two were en route, a group of individuals intercepted their vehicle. Objecting to the woman riding with someone from a different community, the group reportedly attacked Bailappa, accusing him of violating social norms and showing what appears to be a case of ‘ moral policing’.
Following a complaint, police from the M.B. Nagar station acted swiftly and arrested six individuals in connection with the assault. The accused have been identified as Mohammad Salman, Mohammad Adil, Mohammad Rehan, Mohammad Uzair, Mohammad Faiz, and Mohammad Asif.
The incident has raised serious questions about individual freedoms, safety, and the growing trend of self-styled vigilantes enforcing communal boundaries. Authorities are investigating the case further, and police have assured that strict action will be taken against those involved.
