BENGALURU: Actor Vijay Deverakonda and Rashmika Mandanna’s much-awaited period action epic, Ranabaali, has made a roaring entry at the box office. Despite receiving mixed reviews from critics and audiences alike, the movie has successfully managed to pull crowds to theaters, posting impressive opening figures across India.

Directed by Rahul Sankrityan, Ranabaali has grossed an estimated ₹23.18 crore at the Indian box office so far, according to early reports from tracking platforms like Sacnilk. These numbers reflect strong momentum over its opening weekend, indicating that star power and hype are driving steady footfalls despite the polarized word-of-mouth.

A Tale of Resistance and History

Written by Pramod Tammineni, Ranabaali transports viewers to the Rayalaseema region during the British era. The plot follows a fierce horseman and warrior—played by Vijay Deverakonda—who leads a heroic rebellion against oppressive British policies. The narrative highlights how ruthless taxation, grain exports, and rice rationing turned a severe drought into a man-made humanitarian crisis, sparking a powerful movement of resistance.

A Major Reunion and Special Highlights

The film marks a significant milestone for its lead pair, reuniting Vijay Deverakonda and Rashmika Mandanna on the silver screen seven years after their blockbusters Geetha Govindam (2018) and Dear Comrade (2019). Notably, Ranabaali is their first joint release following their marriage earlier this year.

Off-screen, the project has also created positive ripples; Rashmika Mandanna recently revealed that being part of the film inspired her to adopt 400 families. Furthermore, the film features Hollywood star Arnold Vosloo (The Mummy fame) in a crucial role, adding global appeal to the regional period drama.

Behind the Lens

Ranabaali is backed by producers Naveen Yerneni and Y Ravi Shankar. The technical crew boasts top-tier talent, including music directors Ajay-Atul, cinematographers Jishnu Bhattacharjee and Nirav Shah, production designer Shivam Rao Nagasani, and editor Karthika Srinivas. Visual effects supervision was handled by Sunil Raju Chinta.

While reviews for its narrative pacing and runtime have been mixed, Ranabaali continues to hold its ground at ticket counters, proving that star magnetism and historical action epics remain a major draw for moviegoers.
