“Guarantees Are Waste”: Congress MLC Slams Own Govt in Karnataka Council, Claims Development Funds Wasted

Bengaluru: In a major embarrassment for the ruling Siddaramaiah-led Karnataka government, one of its own lawmakers has publicly questioned the flagship “guarantee” schemes, alleging that they are draining the state’s budget at the expense of crucial development and drought relief.

Speaking in the Legislative Council, ruling party Member of the Legislative Council (MLC) Thippanna Kamaknoor expressed severe outrage over the administration’s fiscal priorities. He declared that half of the state’s development funds are being wasted on guarantee schemes, leaving rural infrastructure and basic governance in shambles.

Severe Drought, Zero Relief Funds

Targeting his own party’s administration, Kamaknoor pointed out the dire situation across rural Karnataka. The state is reeling under an unprecedented and severe drought, yet the government has failed to release adequate funds or announce timely compensation to distressed farmers.

“The state is witnessing a severe drought the likes of which has rarely been seen before, but the government is not granting even a single paisa in development funds,” Kamaknoor remarked during the Council proceedings, highlighting growing frustration within the party ranks.
