Mid-Air Terror: FLY91 Flight Diverted to Bengaluru After Technical Snag Leaves Passengers in Panic

Share

BENGALURU: A routine flight from Hyderabad to Hubballi turned into a nightmare for passengers aboard a FLY91 ATR turboprop aircraft earlier today, as a mid-air technical snag forced the flight to divert to Kempegowda International Airport (KIA) in Bengaluru.

The harrowing incident, which kept passengers in a state of extreme anxiety for several hours, saw the aircraft circling the skies while the crew worked to manage the situation. Passengers on board described scenes of panic and tears as uncertainty loomed regarding the flight’s safety.

Four Hours of Uncertainty

According to reports, the technical issues emerged shortly after the flight departed from Hyderabad. The aircraft remained in the air for approximately four hours, during which the pilots and cabin crew attempted to reassure the distressed passengers.

In a terrifying turn of events, passengers were informed that the aircraft was running low on fuel and that landing options were being evaluated. At one point, passengers were told that the aircraft had only about 30 to 45 minutes of flight capability remaining.

“We were terrified. People were crying, and we truly felt like we were staring death in the face,” one passenger shared, reflecting on the mid-air ordeal.

Safe Landing in Bengaluru

After a period of intense circling and coordination with air traffic control, a decision was made to divert the flight to Bengaluru’s Kempegowda International Airport. The flight landed safely at the airport, providing much-needed relief to the weary passengers.

Ground authorities and airline personnel assisted the passengers upon arrival, many of whom were visibly shaken by the experience. While the technical nature of the snag has not been fully disclosed, the airline has confirmed that all passengers disembarked safely, marking an end to an incident that will likely be the subject of a detailed safety investigation.
