A First Information Report (FIR) has been lodged against legislator Basanagouda Patil Yatnal in Tumakuru City Police Station for allegedly delivering a provocative speech that hurt communal sentiments. This marks what is believed to be the 71st case filed against him.
The complaint stems from an address Yatnal made during the Hindu Mahaganapati procession held on Saturday. According to police, his remarks were seen as offensive by members of other communities, prompting authorities to act. An FIR was filed late Sunday night.
This comes soon after Yatnal himself had made statements anticipating the possibility of his 71st case being registered — 70 cases were already reportedly on record from a previous incident in Maddur.
