RSS is India’s Taliban, Says Congress Leader BK Hariprasad After Modi’s Red Fort Speech

Bangalore Mail Staff Reporter

Bengaluru, August 16:
Senior Congress leader BK Hariprasad has launched a scathing attack on the Rashtriya Swayamsevak Sangh (RSS), branding it the “Indian Taliban”. His remarks came a day after Prime Minister Narendra Modi praised the RSS during his Independence Day address from the Red Fort.

Hariprasad Compares RSS to Taliban

In an interview with ANI, Hariprasad alleged that the RSS is working to disturb peace in the country.

“I only compare RSS with the Taliban. They are the Indian Taliban, and yet the Prime Minister praises them from the Red Fort,” he said.

The Congress veteran also raised sharp questions regarding the funding sources of RSS.

“No RSS Role in Freedom Struggle”

Hariprasad challenged the historical role of the RSS, asking:

“Was there a single RSS member who took part in India’s freedom movement? It is shameful that RSS is not even a registered organisation. We don’t know where their money comes from. Any NGO that works in India must be registered under the Constitution.”

BJP and RSS Accused of Twisting History

Continuing his attack, Hariprasad accused the BJP and RSS of being “experts in distorting history” and “attempting to rewrite it.”

He highlighted that the first resolution on partition was moved during British rule by Bengal Premier AK Fazlul Haq, and claimed that Jan Sangh founder Syama Prasad Mukherjee was also associated with the move.
