Bengaluru | July 23, 2025 – Bangalore Mail Staff Reporter

Tension prevailed at the Kalasipalya private bus stand on Wednesday afternoon after a suspicious carry bag was discovered near a public washroom. Upon inspection, it was found to contain explosive substances, prompting an immediate police response.

Authorities said the bag was first noticed by pedestrians, who alerted local officials. Teams from the Kalasipalya Police Station and the Bomb Disposal Squad were quickly deployed to secure the area and examine the contents of the bag.

Deputy Commissioner of Police (West Division), S. Girish, who was present at the scene, confirmed that the bag contained six gelatin sticks and several detonators. “We are reviewing CCTV footage from nearby buildings to trace the individual who abandoned the bag,” he said.

The recovered materials have been sent for forensic analysis, and a case has been registered. Police are yet to determine whether the explosives were part of a deliberate attempt to cause harm or left behind under other circumstances.

The incident caused temporary panic at the busy transport hub, but normal operations resumed after authorities declared the area safe. Investigation is ongoing.
