Kalaburagi: Karnataka Minister Priyank Kharge stated that if Congress MLA B.R. Patil had any grievances, he should have discussed them directly with Chief Minister Siddaramaiah, Deputy Chief Minister D.K. Shivakumar, or AICC President Mallikarjun Kharge, instead of airing them publicly.
Speaking to the media, Priyank emphasized his respect for B.R. Patil, calling him a senior leader in the Congress party and acknowledging his commitment and principles.
Referring to an allegedly leaked phone conversation involving Patil, in which he reportedly made several accusations, Priyank Kharge said the claims have been clearly refuted by Patil himself. He added that if any irregularities are proven, legal action will be taken accordingly.
Responding to Patil’s allegation that most employees at Kalaburagi’s Jayadeva Institute of Cardiovascular Sciences were from Chittapur and Sedam taluks, Priyank remarked that it is natural for people from a local MLA’s constituency to expect employment opportunities when new projects are introduced.
When questioned about Kagwad MLA Raju Kage’s statement demanding more funds from the government, Priyank said, “What’s wrong in MLAs expecting more development funds for their constituencies?”.
Regarding the Union government’s s denial of permission for his proposed U.S. visit, Priyank hinted at political motivations behind the rejection. He warned that this move could stall a potential investment of 15,000 crore into Karnataka, which would have created at least 3,000 jobs.
When asked whether he would still consider traveling to the U.S., he quipped, “What’s the use of buying a ticket after the train has already left?”
