25-members to coordinate with Media and Social Media panel for Congress padayatra from Mekedatu to Bengaluru

Bengaluru: Ahead of the Congress padayatra from Mekedatu to Bengaluru on January 9 to press for early implementation of Mekedatu drinking water project across Cauvery river, KPCC President D K Shivakumar on Wednesday constituted a 25-member panel to coordinate with media and social media on it. The 10-day padayatra will culminate in Bengaluru and will cover a distance of 170 km across 15 Assembly constituencies.
The Mekedatu project was conceived in 1968. It envisages impounding 66 TMC (one thousand million cubic feet) of water and generating 440 megawatts of power. While it was estimated to cost Rs 5,912 crore in 2013, the figure had been revised to Rs 9,500 crore in 2018.
The members of the 25-member committee are: KPCC Media and Communications Department Chairman B L Shankar, its Co-Chairman V R Sudarshan, IT and Data Cell Chairman Priyank Kharge, MLC-Elect M G Gooli Gowda is the Convener, former BBMP Mayor M Ramachandrappa, KPCC Social Media head B R Naidu, and other functionaries are: Ramesh Babu, S A Hussain, K Diwakar, Aishwaraya Mahadev, M Lakshman,S R Mehroz Khan,Manjula Manasa, H A Venkatesh, Bhavya Narasimhamurthy, N Champakraj, Yatheesh, Raghu Dodderi, Kpcc President’s Media Representatives Deepak Thimmaiah and Hameed Palya, Media Secretary to KPCC President Thyagaraj, Harish Gowda, Manjunath Adde, Anil Kumar and Ravi Gowda.
