The Congress-led state government has landed in a politically sensitive situation after an Adani Group company emerged as the lowest bidder for a major tunnel road infrastructure project, a development that has sparked sharp reactions from the opposition and reignited debates over political consistency.
According to officials associated with the tender process, the Adani firm submitted the most competitive financial bid among all participating companies while also meeting the required technical and eligibility criteria. As per standard procurement norms, government agencies are expected to move forward with bidders that offer the lowest cost and fulfil all technical conditions.

The tunnel project, projected as a key solution to urban congestion and traffic bottlenecks, is considered one of the government’s flagship infrastructure initiatives. Officials maintain that timely execution of the project is critical for improving mobility and reducing travel time in the city.
