Actress Radhika Kumaraswamy Questioned Over ₹2.5 Crore Loan to Karnataka Minister Zameer Ahmed Khan

Bengaluru: Kannada actress Radhika Kumaraswamy was questioned by the Lokayukta police in connection with a ₹2.5 crore loan she allegedly extended to Karnataka Housing Minister B. Zameer Ahmed Khan nearly a decade ago. The questioning is part of an ongoing investigation into a disproportionate assets case against the minister.
During their probe into Zameer Ahmed Khan’s income sources, investigators reportedly discovered a list of individuals who had lent him money, with Radhika Kumaraswamy’s name among them. This led to her formal questioning by the Lokayukta police.
Radhika is said to have confirmed during the inquiry that she had indeed lent ₹2.5 crore to the minister around 2012. She explained that she was then producing the Kannada film “Lucky,” starring actors Yash and Ramya, under her production banner Shamika Enterprises.
According to her statement, she had earned significant revenue from the movie’s success and satellite rights, which enabled her to extend financial help to Zameer Ahmed Khan, who was facing financial difficulties at the time.
This development comes against the backdrop of the I Monetary Advisory (IMA) Ponzi scam, which came to light in 2019. Following the revelations, the Enforcement Directorate (ED) raided Zameer Ahmed Khan’s properties and registered cases of alleged illegal wealth accumulation. Based on the ED’s findings, the now-defunct Anti-Corruption Bureau (ACB) had also filed a case against him when he was serving as a minister in the coalition government.
The Lokayukta investigation into the minister’s assets remains ongoing.
