BENGALURU: The Karnataka Pradesh Congress Committee (KPCC) has officially expelled former party general secretary Krupa Alva for six years with immediate effect. The disciplinary action comes in the wake of her alleged involvement in a controversial sting operation and a fabricated defamatory video targeting key Congress leaders in the state.
Disciplinary Action Over Anti-Party Activities
According to the official expulsion order issued by KPCC Vice-President M. Narayanaswamy, the controversy severely damaged the party’s image and generated intense negative publicity across mainstream and digital media platforms.
“As your name has figured in this sting operation case and your conduct in the matter amounts to anti-party activities, on the instructions of the Hon’ble KPCC President, you are hereby expelled from the party for a period of six years with immediate effect,” the KPCC order stated.
The party leadership noted that a formal show-cause notice had earlier been served to Krupa Alva, demanding an explanation regarding her alleged role in the incident. However, she failed to submit any response or clarification within the stipulated timeframe.
Fallout From the Defamatory Video Controversy
The political storm erupted after senior party leaders, notably former Chief Minister Siddaramaiah, named Krupa Alva as a key figure behind the creation and circulation of the defamatory video clip. To prevent further damage, Siddaramaiah successfully secured a court injunction restraining media houses from broadcasting or publishing the disputed content.
Meanwhile, the Bengaluru Police, who are leading the investigation into the sting operation, revealed that preliminary findings point to a “fabricated and deliberately constructed narrative.” Law enforcement authorities confirmed that evidence and testimonies collected so far do not substantiate any of the allegations of sexual abuse or misconduct highlighted in the viral video.
The high-profile expulsion underscores the Karnataka Congress leadership’s zero-tolerance stance on internal sabotage and engineered controversies as political tensions continue to brew in the state.
