BENGALURU: In a scathing attack on the Rashtriya Swayamsevak Sangh (RSS), Karnataka Pradesh Congress Committee (KPCC) President B.K. Hariprasad on Monday compared the Sangh to international extremist organizations like Jaish-e-Mohammed and the Taliban, questioning its legal status and patriotism.

Addressing media persons in Bengaluru, the senior Congress leader alleged that there is fundamentally no distinction between the RSS and foreign militant outfits regarding their registration status within the country.

“There is no difference between Jaish-e-Mohammed, Taliban, and RSS because all three are not registered in India,” Hariprasad stated during a press conference.

Row Over Vande Mataram and Flag Hoisting

Reiterating his critique regarding nationalism, Hariprasad referenced recent observations by Kerala Vice-Chancellor Mohanan Kunnummal regarding the ongoing controversy surrounding Vande Mataram.

The KPCC chief asserted that the criticisms were rightfully directed at the Sangh, alleging that RSS members do not sing the national anthem, recite Vande Mataram, or hoist the Indian tricolour at their events.

Hariprasad’s statements come amid political friction following an FIR filed against senior Congress leaders Sonia Gandhi and Rahul Gandhi over alleged disruptions during a Vande Mataram recital.
