BANGALORE — In a major development for South Indian cinema, Bengaluru’s very own breakout star, Rukmini Vasanth, is reportedly set to share screen space with Superstar Rajinikanth.
According to industry insiders, the actress has been cast in a significant role in Rajinikanth’s highly anticipated 173rd film, Dharman. While the official announcement from the production house is eagerly awaited, the news has already sent waves of excitement through film circles across Karnataka and Tamil Nadu.
A Star-Studded Ensemble
Directed by hitmaker Ashwath Marimuthu (Oh My Kadavule fame), Dharman is being backed by legendary actor Kamal Haasan’s production banner, Raaj Kamal Films International (RKFI).
Rukmini Vasanth’s rumored inclusion adds substantial star power to a cast that already boasts prominent names.
Simran: The veteran actress joins Rajinikanth in a pivotal role.
Raashii Khanna: Playing a lead female character.
Yogi Babu: Set to bring his signature comedic timing to the screen.
If the reports are confirmed, this project will mark the very first collaboration between the “Sapta Sagaradaache Ello” star and Superstar Rajinikanth.
What We Know About ‘Dharman’ So Far
While details regarding the plot of Dharman remain strictly under wraps, early promotional material has painted an intriguing picture.
1. The “Deadly” Doctor: First-look posters feature Rajinikanth in the avatar of a doctor, complete with a scalpel, which the director has teased as a “deadly” character.
2. Not a Remake: Director Ashwath Marimuthu has firmly dismissed rumors suggesting the film is an adaptation of the popular Netflix drama The Good Doctor.
3. Classic Commercial Flavor: The film promises a seamless blend of action, intense family emotions, and classic Rajinikanth commercial entertainment tailored for a modern audience.
A Meteoric Rise for Rukmini Vasanth
This casting coup marks yet another historic milestone in Rukmini Vasanth’s rapidly ascending career.
After winning hearts in the Kannada film industry with the Sapta Sagaradaache Ello duology, she made a successful Tamil debut in Ace alongside Vijay Sethupathi. She also starred in Sivakarthikeyan’s Madharaasi.
With massive upcoming pan-India projects in her kitty—including the Yash-starrer Toxic and Dragon alongside Jr NTR—joining Rajinikanth’s Dharman firmly solidifies Rukmini’s position as one of the most sought-after actresses in the South Indian film landscape.
