Karnataka Government to Withdraw 60 Criminal Cases, Including Those Against DK Shivakumar’s Supporters

Bengaluru: The Karnataka state government has decided to withdraw 60 criminal cases registered in various police stations across the state, including cases against supporters of Deputy Chief Minister (DCM) DK Shivakumar.
The decision was made during a Cabinet meeting held on Thursday, announced Law and Parliamentary Affairs Minister HK Patil. The withdrawn cases include those filed against farmers’ leaders, student activists, Kannada activists, and members of various organizations.
Among the cases being withdrawn are:
• The 2019 Chittapur stone-pelting case
• Cases registered against Shivakumar’s supporters for alleged stone-pelting on buses and government offices in Kanakapura following his arrest by the Enforcement Directorate (ED) in 2019
• Other criminal cases against Congress MLAs and leaders
Minister HK Patil did not disclose further details of the cases but confirmed that the Cabinet has approved the decision.
This move is seen as part of the state government’s initiative to resolve politically motivated cases and address long-pending legal issues involving activists and political workers .
