Khanapur, Belagavi District: In a defining moment for Karnataka politics, Dr. Anjali Nimbalkar, Congress MLA from Khanapur, led a 12-kilometre Padayathra in support of Shri Rahul Gandhi’s Voter Adhikar Yatra—making Khanapur the first taluka in the state to hold such a local-level mobilisation.

While most yatras across Karnataka have been organised at the district or state level, Dr. Nimbalkar’s decision to bring the march directly to the taluka demonstrated her commitment to grassroots participation and voter awareness. Despite heavy rainfall, hundreds of citizens—including women, youth, and senior Congress leaders—joined her, walking shoulder to shoulder, chanting slogans against the BJP, and singing bhajans in unison.

A Symbol of People’s Power

Dr. Nimbalkar’s leadership turned the Padayathra into more than a political rally—it became a people’s movement. Her ability to connect with diverse groups, especially empowering women and youth to take an active role, gave the march a unique energy. It was a rare blend of protest and cultural identity, resonating deeply with the people of Khanapur.

Grassroots Leadership in Karnataka

Known for her inclusive approach to politics, Anjali Nimbalkar has consistently championed local issues while aligning her constituency with broader national causes. By organising the first assembly-level Voter Adhikar Yatra in Karnataka, she not only amplified the Congress party’s call for safeguarding democracy but also positioned Khanapur as a frontrunner in citizen-driven political awareness.

Inspiring a Larger Movement

Political observers note that this Padayathra has set a new precedent for how local leadership can influence national narratives. Dr. Nimbalkar’s work is a reminder that real political strength is built at the grassroots, where citizens feel heard, included, and empowered.

A Leader Who Walks With the People

The sight of Anjali Nimbalkar walking tirelessly through the rain alongside her supporters is a powerful metaphor for her style of politics—accessible, resilient, and people-centric. In today’s political landscape, where many leaders are seen as distant, she continues to embody the spirit of a leader who not only speaks for her people but also walks with them.

With this historic Padayathra, Dr. Anjali Nimbalkar has reinforced her place as one of the most dynamic voices in Karnataka’s Congress leadership—a grassroots leader shaping the future of political participation in Belagavi and beyond.
