Karnataka Transport Minister Ramalinga Reddy Responds to Woman Passenger’s Complaint – Strict Action on Bus Stand Toilets

Karnataka Transport Minister Ramalinga Reddy has swiftly responded to a woman passenger’s concern over poor maintenance of a men’s toilet at the Mysuru Road Satellite Bus Stand in Bengaluru. The minister directed transport officials to prioritize cleanliness and passenger comfort across all state-run bus stations.
The passenger had drawn the minister’s attention to the foul smell and unhygienic condition of the toilet located near the ticket counter. Taking immediate action, Reddy instructed officials to build a protective wall and ensure that such issues are prevented in the future.
Growing Complaints About Bus Stand Toilets
Passengers across Karnataka have frequently raised complaints about dirty toilets, foul odour, overcharging beyond fixed rates, and rude behavior from toilet staff at bus stands managed by KSRTC, BMTC, NWKRTC, and NEKRTC.
Although private agencies are appointed through tenders to maintain these facilities, their inefficiency and negligence have led to repeated grievances from the public.
Minister’s Stern Warning
Ramalinga Reddy issued clear instructions to transport corporations:
• No compromise on cleanliness at bus stands
• Private agencies failing to maintain hygiene will face immediate termination of contracts
• Passenger complaints must be addressed without delay
• State transport corporations must implement preventive measures before issues are raised by the public
Public Service as Top Priority
“It is the primary responsibility of public service institutions like KSRTC to ensure cleanliness, safety, and proper facilities even before passengers raise complaints,” the minister emphasized.
He further assured that in the coming days, the government will focus on providing clean bus stations, hygienic toilets, and improved public amenities across Karnataka.
