On July 12, Kannada cinema icon Shiva Rajkumar turned 63. To celebrate the occasion, the production team behind the upcoming Telugu sports action drama Peddi revealed his first character look, unveiling him as Gournaidu. The compelling new poster, shared via the film’s official X handle of Vriddhi Cinemas, highlights his intense role—complete with a thick moustache and earring, radiating the gravitas befitting his character .
Helmed by Buchi Babu Sana, the director of Uppena, Peddi is a rural-set sports drama starring Telugu superstar Ram Charan, alongside Janhvi Kapoor. Shiva Rajkumar’s powerful presence in the film is already creating significant buzz .
The film, produced jointly by Vriddhi Cinemas and Sukumar Writings (under the banner of director Sukumar), is slated for a global release on March 27, 2026. With music composed by Oscar-winner A.R. Rahman, expectations are high .
In April, the team released the Peddi First Shot teaser, featuring Ram Charan smoking a beedi in a sun-soaked field, setting a gritty and raw tone for his character . Peddi also boasts performances by Jagapathi Babu and Mirzapur actor Divyendu Sharma, adding further depth to its ensemble.
Why it matters:
• Shiva Rajkumar (“Gournaidu”) brings seasoned gravitas to a high-profile Telugu project.
• The film marks a major crossover, uniting Kannada and Telugu cinema talents.
• With A.R. Rahman’s music and a March 2026 release, Peddi positions itself as a big-budget pan-Indian entertainer.
