Only 10% of MLAs Raised Leadership Change Demand: Satish Jarkiholi

Bengaluru – Karnataka Minister Satish Jarkiholi has clarified that only about 10% of Congress MLAs have spoken about a leadership change in the state. He said Chief Minister Siddaramaiah has put an end to all such discussions by firmly stating, “I will remain Chief Minister for all five years.”

Speaking to reporters following CM Siddaramaiah’s remarks in Delhi, where he reiterated that he would continue as Chief Minister for the entire term and lead the party into the next election, Jarkiholi said, “This statement has closed the chapter on any speculation regarding leadership change.”

Jarkiholi further emphasized that most legislators have not raised the issue at all. “Only about 10% may have expressed their opinion. No one brought up leadership change during discussions with AICC in-charge Randeep Singh Surjewala. The focus was primarily on constituency issues and budget allocations,” he said.

He added that Siddaramaiah’s statement has served as a clear message to those who had doubts. “It’s like the match has ended—there’s nothing more to discuss on the matter,” he remarked.

Responding to questions, Jarkiholi clarified that Surjewala had not visited Karnataka to collect opinions on leadership change. “Despite that, Siddaramaiah’s statement has effectively silenced those raising the issue,” he said.

When asked why Siddaramaiah made such a strong statement now, Jarkiholi suggested the timing was appropriate given the growing murmurs. “During the CM selection, there was a vote and Siddaramaiah had the majority support. His leadership was chosen democratically, and this reaffirmation makes it clear—there is no room for change,” he concluded.
