Cabinet Approves Renaming of Bengaluru Rural and Bagepalli

Chikkaballapur: The Congress government led by Chief Minister Siddaramaiah has approved the renaming of another district following the earlier renaming of Ramanagara. In a cabinet meeting held on Wednesday at Nandi Hills, approval was granted to rename Bengaluru Rural district as Bengaluru North district.

The cabinet also approved the renaming of Bagepalli town in Chikkaballapur district to Bhagyanagar. This proposal was earlier submitted by local MLA S.N. Subbareddy and was discussed and approved in today’s s cabinet session.

Previously, Ramanagara district was renamed Bengaluru South. Now, Bengaluru Rural, which includes the taluks of Nelamangala, Doddaballapur, Devanahalli, and Hoskote, will officially be known as Bengaluru North district.

Additionally, the cabinet meeting included discussions on development initiatives across several districts including Chikkaballapur, Kolar, Chitradurga, Shivamogga, Vijayanagara, Koppal, and Belagavi.
