Bengaluru, June 24:

The Bruhat Bengaluru Mahanagara Palike (BBMP) has launched a sticker campaign as part of its ongoing comprehensive survey of Scheduled Castes (SC) across the city. The initiative, which began on Monday, aims to verify the participation of households in the SC enumeration process.

The survey covers all 101 castes listed under the Scheduled Castes category. It seeks to collect scientific and accurate data about these communities. The sticker campaign confirms that a household has been surveyed. The drive is set to continue until June 30, with BBMP officials conducting door-to-door visits.

To aid the process, BBMP has formed volunteer teams comprising NSS and NCC students from local colleges. If residents are not present or unable to participate during the visit, they are encouraged to scan the QR code on the sticker to complete the survey online. In addition, the survey can be completed at nearby Bengaluru One centers or BBMP ward offices, according to an official press release.

BBMP’s Zonal Commissioners and Joint Commissioners are personally overseeing the process and conducting field visits to ensure smooth implementation. The civic body has urged all residents who have not yet participated to do so at the earliest.

On Sunday, West Zone Commissioner Suralkar Vikas Kishore inspected the sticker campaign, checking door-to-door operations within his jurisdiction. During these visits, residents were requested to cooperate with BBMP staff and survey enumerators, provide accurate information, and refrain from removing the stickers from their homes.

Meanwhile, in Mahadevapura zone, Joint Commissioner K. Dakshayini visited several households. She clarified that stickers are affixed only to homes where individuals belonging to SC communities have been identified during the survey. If such households were missed, officials will update the data using the Social Welfare Department’s mobile application.

The BBMP emphasized that this campaign is essential for ensuring inclusive welfare and development planning for SC communities across Bengaluru.
