Mysuru, June 23 Karnataka Leader of the Opposition R. Ashoka on Sunday launched a scathing attack on the Congress-led state government, accusing it of large-scale corruption and misappropriation of public funds to finance upcoming elections in other states, including Bihar.
Speaking to reporters, Ashoka alleged that the state is under a Tuglaq-style administration where every government department is plagued by rampant corruption, with commissions as high as 60 percent being demanded for public services. Even poor citizens are being forced to pay bribes to access housing benefits, he said.
He claimed that the Congress government in Karnataka is looting the state to offer black money to the party high command. In this 60 percent commission government, every department is drowning in corruption, Ashoka asserted, adding that officials are demanding 36 percent commission even in the Housing Department.
He went on to allege that the loot extends across various sectors, including the Excise Department. Referring to the Valmiki and MUDA (Mysuru Urban Development Authority) scams, he said, The Chief Minister and his ministers are all involved in this massive looting exercise.
Ashoka also claimed that ministers and officials are competing with each other to offer the highest bribe to the Congress high command in hopes of gaining more favor and influence. Whoever gives the most black money gets the highest value in return,he said.
Concluding his remarks, Ashoka announced a statewide agitation against the alleged corruption of the Congress government and said that if the Chief Minister had any sense of moral responsibility, he would have already secured the resignations of the ministers involved.
