Men Facing Difficulties Due to Shakti Scheme: Congress MLA R.V. Deshpande

Koppal District :

Congress MLA and Chairman of the State Administrative Reforms Commission, R.V. Deshpande, has expressed concern that the condition of men has worsened following the implementation of the Karnataka government’s Shakti scheme, which offers free bus travel to women.

Speaking at the unveiling ceremony of K.H. Patil’s statue in Shirur village on Sunday, Deshpande said, ‘’Women are now traveling across all parts of the state using the Shakti scheme, but men are struggling to even get on the buses. The situation for men has deteriorated’’.

He further remarked, The guarantee schemes are costing the state ₹58,000 crore. I have worked with eight Chief Ministers, and each one has done good work during their tenure.

Highlighting the benefits of the government’s five guarantee schemes, Deshpande noted that they have helped various sections of society, including labourers and the poor. The Shakti scheme, in particular, has enabled women to visit temples and go on tours. It has proven especially beneficial for women,he said.

However, he also pointed out some challenges:”There have been instances where men have been scolded or even beaten by women while trying to board buses. There needs to be significant administrative reform. Decisions must be made quickly . The faster decisions are made, the quicker people’s problems will be resolved”, Deshpande emphasized.
