Due to the increasing number of cases related to illegal mining, a letter has been written to the Chief Minister to bring these cases to a conclusion, said H.K. Patil, Minister for Law and Parliamentary Affairs.
H.K. Patil, the Minister for Law and Parliamentary Affairs, stated that in light of the rising number of illegal mining cases in the state, a letter has been written to the Chief Minister to bring them to a logical conclusion. He was speaking to reporters on Saturday while attending the felicitation and book release program organized on the occasion of Minister N.S. Boseraju’s birthday at the Agricultural University campus.
He said, Although over 12,000 cases have been registered over the years, only about 7% have been investigated. Of those 7%, just 2% that is, only 0.2% of the total cases have reached a verdict.
In order to bring all these cases to a logical end, a seven-page letter has been sent to Chief Minister Siddaramaiah. Nine cases have been handed over to the CBI. Out of those, six were returned saying they would not take them up, except for three. Most of the cases with the SIT (Special Investigation Team) have not been investigated.
Illegal mining has caused a loss of 1.40 lakh crore to the state. This issue has been taken seriously and hence a letter was written to the CM, he explained. We must act in the interest of the people of the state. I wrote this letter because I want our government to earn a good name. I have already shown the letter to the CM, and he is taking it seriously,he said.
