A Chennai-bound IndiGo flight originating from Guwahati was forced to make an emergency landing at Bengaluru’s Kempegowda International Airport on June 19 after it reportedly ran low on fuel, according to airline sources.
The aircraft was initially scheduled to arrive in Chennai around 7:45 p.m. but was unable to land due to adverse weather conditions in the region. With visibility issues and continued delays, the pilot made the decision to divert to Bengaluru.
However, during the diversion, the crew realized that fuel levels were critically low and issued a “mayday” distress call to alert Bengaluru air traffic control, an IndiGo spokesperson confirmed.
The flight landed safely at approximately 8:20 p.m., and all passengers were reported safe.
