There’s good news for Bengaluru motorists coping with the infamous Mysuru Road traffic. The Nandi Infrastructure Corridor Enterprises (NICE) is set to open a 9-km link road at the BHEL-Deepanjali Nagar Junction to Panchamukhi Ganapati Temple Junction, Kengeri, designed to ease congestion and save precious commuting time. The road will be operational in a few months.
Motorists can enter at Deepanjali Nagar and enjoy toll-free access for up to 1.5 km—a welcome relief for those heading toward PES College Junction and Banashankari.
Currently, a trip from BHEL Junction to Panchamukhi Ganapati Temple Junction, Kengeri, during peak hours takes up to 60 minutes. With this new link road, the same journey will take just 20 minutes and is toll-free! About 30% of Mysuru Road’s congestion is expected to ease thanks to better traffic distribution.
This link road bypasses bottlenecks like Rajarajeshwari Nagar Junction, Bengaluru University, and Pattanagere, making life easier for commuters traveling between Nayandahalli, Kengeri, PES College, and Hosakerehalli.
The connectivity will only get better once the upcoming Bengaluru-Mysuru access-controlled highway (a 13-km stretch from Sompura) becomes operational. This will be a game-changer for heavy vehicles heading to the Bidadi Industrial Area, further decongesting Mysuru Road.
However, for the full benefits to reach everyone, land issues affecting the 13-km highway project need urgent resolution.
Farmers are awaiting the sites promised to them, in addition to the financial package already received. The Karnataka Industrial Area Development Board (KIADB) and Public Works Department (PWD) need to collaborate to clear these long-pending hurdles.
With these developments, travelling along Mysuru Road might finally feel less like a challenge and more like a breeze.
For now, the toll-free stretch and faster commutes are reasons enough to celebrate!
